It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Scalia at the age of 87. Born in Italy in 1937, he immigrated to Canada in 1954.
He married the love of his life in 1964, Antonina (Nina) Salvaggio and was a devoted father to Sam (Diana), Stella (Salvatore) and Josephine (Alexander). He will be sadly missed by his nine grandchildren Vincent Philip (Emily), David Andrew (Elisabeth), David Joseph, Nina Rachel, Sarah Suzanne, Stephen James, Joseph Arthur, Jacob Alexander and Joanna Tina. He is survived by his sister, Stella Scalia Vaccaro, as well as sisters and brothers-in-law, along with many relatives and friends. He leaves us with a legacy of bold leadership, courage, vision and unwavering commitment to his family, friends and community.
The family will receive condolences at Magnus Poirier Funeral home at 10300 Boul. Pie-IX, Montreal on Sunday, May 4, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. and on Monday, May 5, from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
The funeral service will be held at the same location in the Magnus Poirier Chapel on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Le Repos St. François d'Assise Cemetery in the Santa Rita Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI).
