With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Giovanna Cistera Auriemma on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the age of 95. A courageous and selfless woman, Giovanna was the beloved wife of the late Virgilio Auriemma and the heart of her family. A devoted mother to Maria (Ennio), Antonietta (Vito), and Luisa (Luciano), Giovanna’s life was defined by her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She was a proud and nurturing Nonna to her grandchildren—Claudia (Tony), Gianna (Felice), Deni (Valentina), Roberto, Daniela, Michael (Lia), and Andria—and a joyful presence in the lives of her great-grandchildren, Giada, Gabriella, Giuliana, Jessica, Angelika, Damiano, Adriano, Marcello, Melina, and Mila. Giovanna was a true matriarch, full of life and energy, whose kindness and generosity touched everyone she met. She lived with compassion, always ready to help others, and her strength and warmth were a source of inspiration to all who knew her.
