It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Pasquala (Lina) Messina Battaglia on March 11, 2025.  Born in Salemi, province of Trapani, Sicily, on December 28, 1940, Lina carried the warmth and traditions of her homeland throughout her life. Her greatest joy was her close-knit and loving family.

Trained as a seamstress, she worked many years to help support her household. She dedicated her life tirelessly to create a warm and nurturing home for her loved ones.  Her kitchen was the gathering place for Sunday dinners, holiday celebrations and impromptu visits. Her cooking was legendary and she was delighted in teaching her recipes to the younger generation. She shared generously with everyone around her. Her cooking and baking represented for her a deep love of bringing family and friends together in moments of laughter, comfort and joy.

Lina is survived by her loving husband of over sixty-one years, Francesco. She was a devoted mother to Maria Rita (Umberto) and Robert (Dana) and proud and loving grandmother to Robert, Jonathan, Karina and Adriano. She will be dearly missed by her beloved sister, Caterina as well as Tristan, Sabrina, nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her brother Michele.

Lina’s kindness, strength, intelligence and unwavering devotion to her family will live in the traditions she passed down, the meals she lovingly prepared and the countless cherished memories she leaves behind. Her warmth extended beyond the home, touching the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitations will be held at Magnus Poirier Funeral Complex,  6825 Sherbrooke Street Est. Montreal, Qc. H1N 1C7 on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel church at 7645 rue du Mans, Saint-Léonard, H1S 2A1, thence to the Saint-Frère André mausoleum in Le repos Saint-François d’Assise cemetery for Lina’s final resting place.

May her memory be a blessing and may the love she shared continue to inspire all who knew her.

Lina will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
